Making and providing removable dentures to your patients is one of the most difficult tasks a dentist will have to do. There are many reasons for this, but, the most obvious reasons are the complexity of all the stages involved and the number of people involved. We tackle this problem with good communication and encourage dialog between you and your assigned technician. Communication is key for both sides to understand the needs and requirements of the patient.
A smaller dental team equals better communication. Technicians working together in a small laboratory know whats going on, who the patients are, what their particular requirements are and when its needed. This means the sharing of tasks is easier - there is a better understanding of what's needed, due to information being shared, which minimises the risk of work being forgotten, lost or misplaced.

Our Technicians Will Hand-Craft You A Quality Product
Or technicians are assigned new patients and that technician becomes responsible for that patient right through to completion. Other technicians may help out with some of those stages due to logistics, however, The assigned technician is always responsible for checking to make sure it meets their quality standards. This ensures a consistency in quality control and accountability should things go wrong. It also enables a point of contact for the dentist should there need to be a discussion about any given patients work.
Many dental laboratories are finding it increasingly difficult to find and employ qualified technicians, so they employ a much higher workforce of unqualified or unregistered staff with just a few technicians that check the work before it goes out. This is a great way to keep costs down, but we believe it is better to have the majority of staff to be working to the exacting standards set out by the general dental council.
All of our Dental Technicians have extensive knowledge of working side by side with clinicians in the dental practice which has given them an insight in to the challenges faced by dentist providing dentures. They understand how difficult it is to take an impression of a patient with a severe gag reflex, or how patients posture when trying to register their bite. This level of training is a massive boon to delivering exceptional dentures. Unfortunately, this is an experience that most dental technicians do not have, which I believe has led to misunderstanding and mistrust.
Like Technicians who have little experience in the clinical environment, we find many dentists have a lack of understanding of what goes on in the dental laboratory. Thats why we have an open door policy to any DCP, whether thats a Dental nurse or a Dentist, our doors are always open. We invite you to come and visit our facilities to take a look around, meet the team and have a chat. We’d also encourage some hands on experience, learning how to cast impressions properly, surveying models, constructing bite blocks or learning how to set teeth can be a huge game changer for anyone wanting to improve their game in denture provision.
If you feel like you are lacking in some areas of denture provision, maybe you would like some hands on, one on one training, from taking perfect alginate impressions, elastomeric impressions, registering a bite, using a face bow, gothic arch tracing or any of the other difficult procedures, just get in touch and we can arrange something tailored to your requirements.
Providing high quality dentures to your patients gives a good profit margin, but it requires a shift in mindset. Many dentists are not confident in charging more for their dentures because they don’t feel confident in the success of the dentures they provide. This is because they are usually doing something wrong, which can lead to all sorts of problems. multiple and excessive adjustments resulting in an unhappy patient. An unhappy patient is bad for you, them and the practice - nothing goods comes out of failed attempt unless you learn something from it. If your patient is patient or understanding, they may give you a chance to remake, but unfortunately, quite often, this will result in a refund. If you can provide a high quality denture with high a quality service to your patients, the quality of life you give to your patients and the financial rewards you receive are considerable. And we can help you achieve that goal. We do it every day!
